We at Huntsville Pediatric Associates are actively following the evolving COVID developments, with the understanding there is nothing more important to you than the health of your child. We continue to follow the initiatives introduced at the beginning of the pandemic, updating them based on CDC and The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines.

Current safety measures include:

• Anyone with symptoms of COVID is not allowed to work, and temperature checks of all physicians and employees occur before the start of each workday.
• Everyone working at HPA wears a mask at all times that patients are in the building, and we ask that families seen in the office wear one as well.
• Well checks are seen in the mornings and early afternoon, before sick visits begin.
• Patients check-in over the phone and wait in the car, moving directly to rooms when they are available.
• Rooms are cleaned well between patients with Clorox solution.
• Physicians are participating in telemedicine when the situation can be managed over the phone. Most insurance companies are covering this service, but copays may be required.

Antibody testing remains in its infancy, and until we can be relatively sure that a test is giving an accurate and necessary answer, we would not feel comfortable offering it.

Finally, the AAP has recommended continuing well care of patients, and we feel strongly that immunizations should not be delayed for those diseases we CAN prevent. Please call to schedule a well check if your child is due. We are cognizant of our ethical obligation to keep them safe while in this office.

Please continue to take care of the most vulnerable among us. COVID has not passed and the CDC guidelines of social distancing and wearing masks are life-saving. Until we have a vaccine to protect us, these simple but inconvenient tasks are a way to take care of each other.
